Ask any mother, and she will explain to you the joys of being a parent: Some of the rewards of parenthood is watching them grow, learn through play, and observing developmental milestones. These milestones do not just happen. They're cautiously cultivated and developed. For kids, discovering through play ensures that significant cognitive skills take effect. Babies have the traditional baby toys like mobiles, rattles, and stuffed animals. Very young children have a little more fancy toys that focus on logical reasoning. Pre-school-age child toys aim to nurture the imaginative and creative side of the child. As the child grows, he'll pass through all of those developmental stages, so its best to have age appropriate child toys on hand that will grow with him.

In the beginning stages of life, babies' eyes are still adjusting. He has never heard or seen anything before, with the whole world a new and great, but indistinct mystery. Eye focus is poor, while muscular coordination is worse. That is the reason why toys like mobiles and rattles are often used with infants. A mobile provides something to look at and focus on when it's dangling above the baby, directly in his sight. After prolonged exposure, the infant develops some focusing skills. And some muscle coordination has also developed.

You may have seen an infant reaching for the toy of his desire on a mobile. He is gaining a sense of perspective while doing this. Rattles are also a very good child toys for newborn babies learning muscle coordination. They also teach him that when he makes an action, there is a reaction. The sounds coming from a rattle also encourage sound recognition and development.

While these toys do help basic childhood skills, they don't complete them. As a child enters the toddler stage, he is starting to use his mind. Logistical child toys aid in learning reason and developing sensitive skills. For example, when your two year old is building a seemingly funny looking house from construction blocks, he is learning about structure, perception and weight distribution. Colored building blocks also help develop his creative skills.

By the age of four, children have developed most of these skills. It is then time for fun and creativeness, and also studious learning. Sometimes, electronic child toys are believed to be spoiling kids today. On the other hand, these battery operated toys can also offer some of the same lessons taught in school. There exist many companies today that make video games that teach reading, arithmetic, and spelling skills, which are normally used in kindergarten classrooms.

With the array of child toys available in the market today, you are sure to find one for your child's age group. You may find one that is unique, but not age appropriate for several more years. You can get it now if you really like it.
